Joe Dispenza: Breaking the Habit of Being You

I became unemployed this past February. It was one of the best thing last that ever happened to me. The Universe released me from a toxic environment and put me on a new healing path. I began a 40 day crash course (free) introduction to A Course In Miracles (ACIM)  Lisa Natoli and Teachers of God,** returned to practicing yoga through the website DailyOm with Sadi Nardini, and meditation.

After the 40-day course I began the year long  ACIM course (purple book) . I do one lesson a day and meditate after reading the lesson. I committed to just one year, which, if you don’t know me, is a huge step. I’m somewhat commitment-phobic. Partly by personality and partly fear of failure among other things.

With as much ease that ACIM promised, I was given an opportunity to work in a low demand temporary position with a supervisor who restored my belief that great supervisors still exist who create a healthy work environment. Not to mention, gave me more experience in the field in which I work. The place allowed me to heal in various ways and meet some awesome people who have remained in my life thus far.

As I study from ACIM I am finding that its teachings overlap with many other  spiritual ideas I have and am currently exploring. Whatever your spiritual beliefs I am coming to the conclusion spirituality is spirituality regardless of what you call it – God/Jesus-based teachings, new thought, metaphysical, mindfulness, Buddhist, or something else.

It doesn’t matter what you call it -God, Higher Power, the Ultimate Being, It, Source, Source Energy, White Light, Nothing. It’s only a name just as my name could be Susie, Harry, or Harriette. It doesn’t matter because a name is only a word and it does not change the fact that I am the same person inside. Words are verbal symbols used to help communicate. So call It what you are comfortable calling It because as long as you do the work, you will see results. The Universe has everything that you desire and will manifest it for you when your energy aligns with it.

If you have read anything about the Law of Attraction, then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, that’s OK and you can explore the idea. Famous persons such as Napoleon Hill, Esther Hicks, Earl Nightengale to name a few write about manifesting your dreams, yet they don’t get into the science of how it works.

Now this is where  Dr. Joe Dispenza’s book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself comes into the picture, especially for people who like to have “proof” or feel the need to have science behind the miracles. What is amazing and exciting for me is how all these practices are now supported by quantum physics! Yes, science. It’s all about energy – something I learned in high school chemistry and made sense to me back then, yet when I spoke of it, people thought I was ‘weird’ or ‘a bit off.’

The real task is to get out of our heads and actually practice what we are intellectually learning. I do up to a point, but now I have a strong urge to ramp up the doing. Which brings me to not only exploring, but committing to incorporating lessons taught by Joe Dispenza in his book Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself into my personal and spiritual growth. I purchased the Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself Meditations  meditations from Joe Dispenza’s site for $6, which is well worth the investment.
